Rules and Regulations of Lake Hydra

 

Lake Hydra is open to Insured Certified Instructors, Organizations and Dive Professionals and their students. Not open to the general public or for recreational diving or water sports.

 

The following rules are intended to ensure visits to Lake Hydra are safe and enjoyable. Lake Hydra reserves the right to expel any individual or organization not abiding by the Rules.

 

Due to limited parking we require carpooling of at least two people in every car. No Trailers or oversized vehicles permitted. If you have special circumstances that prevent you from carpooling, or have special parking needs please contact us ahead of your visit so that we may try to accommodate your needs.

 

Before Your Visit

 

Purchase your ticket online at least 24hrs in advance. Ticket sales cut off at midnight the night before the ticket date. There are no ticket sales at the gate.

 

As a courtesy Instructors are free IF they have students; DM’s are free IF helping with a class. Divemaster number to be considered “reasonable” for your class size. Please do not abuse this privilege or you will lose it.

 

Everyone who is not teaching a class or working as a dive master or guide, must purchase a ticket; Including non divers accompanying a minor.

 

Everyone entering Lake Hydra property must fill out the liability waiver. After submitting the waiver please respond to the follow up email, to confirm your email address; This step is what records the waiver in our online system.

 

While at the lake

 

Do’s

 

Use only the designated entrances to the lake.

 

Adhere to the 5mph speed limit while driving on the property.

 

Park in designated areas only. 

 

Do not block water entry/exit points or roads.

 

Keep all docks and entryways clear of gear.

 

Bring a packed lunch and enough water. We do not have food or drink venders.

 

Place all garbage in provided receptacles.

 

Stay with your group/instructor on the property and in the water.

 

Every person entering the water must be either an insured and certified dive professional or under the supervision of one.

 

Dont’s

 

No solo diving. No one, including Dive instructors and Dive Masters with their own liability insurance are permitted to dive solo.

 

No portable compressors or cascade systems of any type.

 

No one permitted in or on the water without a personal floatation device or BCD.

 

Do not chip, damage, mark, move or remove any underwater structure or artifact.

 

No Fishing or spear fishing.

 

No jumping or diving from the cliffs or walls of the lake.

 

No motorboats.

 

Do not move or rearrange picnic tables.

 

No open fires or charcoal grills. Small gas grills are permitted.

 

No alcohol or recreational drugs on premises.

 

No Pets allowed at Lake Hydra.

 

No children under 10 years old permitted on the property.

 

Any child on the property 10 to 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Required Equipment for all divers

 

• Buoyancy Compensator Device (BCD)

• Submersible Pressure Gauge (SPG)

• Timing and Depth Gauges, or Dive Computer

• An Alternate Air Source, either a dedicated 2nd stage or BCD

mounted air source

 

Diving Deep at Lake Hydra

 

1. DO NOT DIVE DEEP UNLESS YOU ARE PROPERLY TRAINED AND EQUIPPED

 

2. You Should not dive below 80 feet unless you have one or more of the following:

A. A properly serviced, cold water, environmentally sealed regulator. 

B. Pony Bottle/Spare Air

C. Redundant first stage

D. Are under the supervision of an instructor

 

3. The following items are required for deep diving;

A. Dive Light

B. Dive Computer

C. Hang Bottle for a Safety Stop

D. Proper thermal protection (42 degree water)

E. Must have Deep Water certification and the ability to breath on a free flowing regulator

F. Plan your dive and dive your plan
